Psalm 19 - Searching, Seeking and Securing

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, The last Wednesday of January 2023, we have almost made it through the first month of 2023 only a few more days to go. It seems that now is the time to gather paperwork together and prepare for doing your taxes. Each year I try to organize my unfiled paperwork, which I have laid aside, knowing that I will need to have it soon. And, of course, there are various little piles placed all around my room. So I begin to search out the piles seeking the right ones and secure them in a folder. This may sound like an easy task, but trust me, it is not! For I have several piles and in each one there invariable is a paper or two that needed attention some time back but the deadline has passed so I need to take the time to deal with it. This will take a few days to complete but remembering from years past it will be done. In the reading of today's scriptures, you are probably wondering what the verses have to do with my searching, seeking and securing. Let's begin: "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard." In my searching I am looking for the right words on the paperwork that have to do with matter at hand. Yes, words on paper, these words are read sometimes quietly and other times out loud. In the reading of these words out loud it is heard by the audience and the individual speaking them and when it comes to reading the Word a mystery occurs. You may be searching for something important and/or seeking answers to your questions and turning to the Word, the Lord so graciously and marvelously displays the securing of His Word. And in the securing of His Word at the right time He reveals the Truth. Abba Father, Gracious and Sovereign LORD, praise to Thee for your testimony. Lord I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ, that in her searching and seeking whatever she is praying about that Your Word would You would be securing in her heart and in her mind the truth of the matter at hand and may she boldly proclaim, "let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer." In Jesus Name, Amen. Day to day pours out speech,

The Quietness of the Morning

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, Yesterday morning as I watched the snow fall while doing my dishes I realized that it was very quiet. In fact I thought maybe the electricity had gone off because there was a quietness. So quiet that I could hear my fountain which was in the living room. I then realized that I must go outside because if it is this quiet in the house then it must be so outside. I opened my patio sliding glass door and stepped out on the deck. Yes, indeed, it was quiet enough that I could hear the snow falling! There I stood and thanked the Lord for the quietness of the morning. I needed to have that quietness of the Lord to comfort me. How about you, do you welcome the quietness of the morning? Let us pray - Abba Father, thank You that You quiet our minds and hearts. Thank You that You bring us to a place where the quietness of You, Your Presence, stills our hurried lives or gives us a moment of silence to seek Thee or embraces us just enough that we are able to breathe and continue on. Lord I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that for today You would anoint her with Your peace which passes all understanding and quiet her in Your Love. In Jesus Name, Amen. Enjoying the Quietness of Him,

Wearing Faith, Love and Hope

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, A wedding band is something that you wear, right? It is worn to show everyone that you are committed to another person. Once you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you are committed to God. And unlike the tangible evidence, a ring, which can be seen, the Lord does something so mysterious and amazing! He gives us His Spirit who takes up residence in our hearts and minds. I have two wedding bands: the original one, which was given 52+ years ago and the second one for my 25th wedding anniversary. I interchange them periodically for the original is a slim gold band and the other has 4 diamonds and a little more care is needed. Those are the outward signs of being in a relationship, being committed to another person but with the Lord there is something more intimate and divine for we are clothed with the robe of righteousness and we are gifted with the fruits of the Spirit. So just as I wear a ring on my finger as an outward sign I must also wear these three things - faith, love and hope. Yes, for without these three it is impossible to trust, believe and obey. Let us pray - Abba Father, thank You that You have not left us alone but have given us Your Spirit. Lord I ask that during these turbulent times when it seems that ALL we have can be swept away in an instant You are there in the midst of it ALL. And when the outward evidence says otherwise, because we have been left without so much, You embrace us and whisper in our ears and sing a song over us and make a way in the wilderness and clothe us with You. Lord may we begin to wear faith in trusting that all is well, to begin to wear Love believing that all is well, and begin to wear hope by obeying and saying that "all is well with my soul." Blessings of Faith, Love and Hope.

Welcome to the Year 2023

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, The first Wednesday of 2023 and here we are together to ponder on things. I received two gifts this Christmas - the first, from my brother, a 2023 Thomas Kinkade Engagement Calendar with Scripture and the second, from my husband, a devotional titled, "He walks with me - taking the hand of the One who never lets go", by Carol Kent. These two gifts are the only thing that I would call as traditional, for each year, I start off with a new calendar and a new devotional. The scripture reading for January, "Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established." (Proverbs 16:3) This being a new year and not a new month it seems appropriate to start it out very simple and how simple can it be to commit thy works unto the LORD. He has already given us the works and He has already gifted us with the various talents to accomplish those works so by committing your works naturally your thoughts shall be established because they are on a firm foundation. (Ephesians 2:10) For some of you there have been changes that have maybe shaken your faith or situations where you can't remember why you made that choice but still, "commit this day unto the LORD." He will do the impossible! He will Speak! Let us pray - Abba Father, our Great and Gracious and Glorious Father, Praise to thee and Thank you for each and every day of this year. Lord I pray that as we commit our works unto You that our thoughts shall be established and that at the end of each day we will be able to say, "it is well with my soul" for LORD You are our GOD. In Jesus Name, Amen. Committed to the One Who Listens and Speaks,
