Confidence in Knowing - Philippians 1:6
Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ,
The other day we were sitting outside under the canopy (patio covering) that our son along with his father-in-law had installed for my husband's 75th birthday. We had just completed our rose garden project and knew that we needed to get out of the 88 degree weather. As we were cooling down the sound of the church bells were ringing. This was not unusual as it happens every day at noon and every evening at 5:00pm and at 6:00pm. As we listened I began to sing because I knew the words of the hymn. I hadn't sung it in years but still I knew the words, "what a friend we have in Jesus." We both became quiet as we listened to the bells ringing throughout the town. We were both tired from our work but as soon as the music of the church bells rang out we seemed to go to another place where thoughts of the song and the words and the goodness of the Lord. Do you ever have those kind of moments? The kind of moments where His Presence is real and you desire to worship Him. And something that you have not even thought about in a long time and you instantly remember. The verse found in Philippians 1:6, "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.", as I read this verse yesterday morning my heart was quickened as I realized that I have this confidence but it isn't until something occurs that stirs my heart to believe once again. Just as the music from the bells playing a hymn which I had sung in church when I was much younger, the precious words of the truth being spoken of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. The back patio became a sanctuary and the Lord was in our midst. It was a special moment, a moment that we both needed, as a reminder that we are still His and He is coming back again but until then we still have the confidence that no matter the heat of the day or the darkest of the night He will perfect our work until the day of His return. Let us pray - Abba Father, we give you all the glory and all the praise. Thank You for our mornings and for our nights. Thank You for this confidence that the Holy Spirit instills in us. Thank You O Lord that there is this "very thing", this confidence that only You are able to promise us Your children. Lord I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that as she walks out her day in faith that she would be reminded that You are her everything and You have already begun a good work in her. May she praise You for You are our friend and Savior and Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Dwelling on this very thing,
LyndiaSue
