Lesson Learned from the Wild Rose

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ,

Several months back I trimmed the yellow wild rose bush growing in our front yard. At that time I was scratched but didn't think anything about it until Monday when I went to the doctor for my routine 3 month checkup. The spot where I was scratched hadn't gone away, in fact three little blisters or lumps had developed and last week they were painful to the touch. Me doing my own doctoring, which is very dangerous indeed, had all kinds of scenarios so... the doctor checked it out and his response, "rose thorns can have a bacteria on them which can only be treated with an antibiotic." My response, "How can something that beautiful have anything that would cause an infection?"

Once again, there I go again - thinking!

Ah, how marvelous that the Beauty of the Lord is the only thing that is Pure and to be Trusted. Ah, how significant that our desire should be to see the Lord's beauty and recognize that all else pales in comparison.

Yes, I really, really like the beauty of the wild rose but when scratched by one of its thorns that beauty can cause an infection. How many times have we probably looked at the outside beauty only to realize later that it is flawed. My lesson learned was twofold actually: 1) don't assume the small scratch will go away just because it was caused by something beautiful and 2) don't look at the outside beauty of nature or man but rather look for the inner beauty of the Lord who has given us such rich beauty in ALL Things. He is the Creator and His Beauty is Pure and Holy and Righteous.

Abba Father, Praise and Glory to thee our most Glorious and Beautiful and Sovereign Lord. Thank you that Your Beauty is displayed in the Heavens and on Earth and when seen from Your eyes, how are we able to comprehend the significance of the colors displayed. Lord, I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that she would look upon Your Beauty alone to satisfy the hunger and thirst of the important things in life. May she see Your rich blessings and Your Abundant Colors You alone give us to enjoy each twenty-four hour day. I ask in the Name of Jesus, the Name above all names, Amen.

May His Rich Beauty Be Evident Today,

Horizontal Rainbow

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ,

A neighbor friend from Hawaii sent me a picture the other day of a horizontal rainbow. They were bracing for yet another hurricane and the skies were filled with ominous clouds but in the midst of a set of clouds there was a rainbow. He sent it to me with the caption, "something he had not seen before, a horizontal rainbow." I responded thanking him for sharing the pic and his thinking of us with his new found discovery.

I have been thinking about the horizontal rainbow. How faithful is our God that in the midst of a crisis or senseless tragedy or impending doom, whether imaged or real, that God does place in our minds and hearts His Promises. Often times we do not readily see the promises because it may not look like how we have always seen it. Like the rainbow, it is supposed to be arcing - it is supposed to be a bow across the sky, right?

Today I am reflecting on something that happened thirty-two years ago. What I thought was a bad thing actually was a horizontal rainbow, a promise from God that He is a Sovereign God who is seated on the throne, that nothing happens in my life that is outside of His Plans, and that His plans for me are Good even when they don't seem that way on the surface. Wow, isn't our God amazing!!!

Abba Father, Praise and Glory and Honor to You our most Sovereign Lord. Lord, thank You for Your Promises and for Your Goodness. Lord I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that she would have her eyes opened and her heart expanded and her mind receptive to see, feel and comprehend that in the midst of her day You are constantly revealing Your Promises, may we, Your dear and precious ones be filled with Your Spirit and Rest in the Confidence that Your Plans are unchangeable and nothing will be able to thwart the Plans You have for our lives. In the Precious Name of Jesus, the name above all names, I pray. Amen

Blessings Galore,

Fingerless Gloves

Dear and Precious sisters-in-Christ,

I acquired some white cotton fingerless gloves from my brother some time back and have been using them when I do my morning time writings. For some reason the way my hands are covered exposing only the fingers from the second knuckle down seems to inspire me. Quirky huh?

What inspires? Ah, you may think that it is a question that only artist and writers and creators use but it is everywhere in our world.

Definition: 1. fill (someone) with the urge or ability to do or feel something, especially to do something creative, 2. breathe in (air); inhale.

God inspires - He fills us. He is our breath - all we need do is inhale.

I looked in my concordance for inspire and got inspiration, (divine influence) Job 32:8 and 2 Tim. 3:16.

So asking again, "what inspires?"

Abba Father, Praise thee for my very breath and for your inspiration. Thank You that each new day is filled with blessings galore and so much more. Lord I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that Your sustaining inspiration would filly enbrace her to soar as the eagle above the hurts and the pain and the false realities of this world and that You would draw her closer to thee. May she be inspired to boldly Walk by Faith into her world today and just breathe in All that You have inspired her to do. In the Precious Name of Jesus, the Name above all names, Amen.

Blessings Galore and So Much More,
