The Usefulness of Proverbs
Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ,
Our son visited us yesterday and even though we only live a few miles away it is so very hard to carve out a couple of hours of your life to be able to just sit down and communicate all the hustle and bustle of our lives. We, the parents, are retired so our busy lifestyle is somewhat sedate (we like it that way). His is, of course, is making a living, taking care of wife and children and also living life to the fullest which we did at his age. As we listened to the happenings in his life which are expected with being married and being the husband and dad of the family. It was so wonderful to be able to just sit and listen and share and no action on our part to make decisions or suggestions but to enjoy each other's company and try to be a part of their struggles and worries and let them know they are valued and important and we are loving him no matter what. This morning, upon opening scripture, Proverbs 1:1-7, seemed like a wonderful place to read and meditate with you. "The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction; to discern the sayings of understanding. to receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity; to give prudence to the naive, to the youth knowledge and discretion, A wise man will hear and increase in learning. And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel, To understand a proverb and a figure, The words of the wise and their riddles, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of Knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." How are these two related? My son's life is filled with situations that can be devastating if the wrong words or actions are used, as with all adults who are in the position of being a person in authority. Someone who is looked up to for guidance and direction and more importantly giving LOVE and HOPE. And as a mother and grandmother my concerns for my children and grandchildren are a reminder that every day I must pray. Prayer is so vital! When reading God's words and meditating on what is written and how it applies to the reality of living verse 7 seems so precious - "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge" Let us pray - Abba Father, LORD of ALL goodness and faithfulness and lovingkindness. Praise to Thee! Lord, I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that her day begins with You and throughout her day may Your guidance and direction be sure. May Your Presence be evident and as she asks with an open heart that You fill it with a thirst to know wisdom and instruction in the details of her life. Lord, equip her for this day to be able to draw her strength from on high and give an answer as to why she trusts in You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Blessings and may He pour into your lives richly,
LyndiaSue
