The Healing at Bethesda

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ,

Wednesday morning and let us imagine that we are witnessing a scene - we are with Jesus and the scene begins in John 5:2-9, "Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes. In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered. A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, "Do you wish to get well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "Get up, pick up your pallet and walk." Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk.

My bible states that the following verses were missing from earlier mss - vs 3b and 4, which states, "waiting for the moving of the waters; for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted."

In witnessing this scene you are not privilged to hear the words exchanged, you only see the diseased and helpless people and then Jesus approaching a man who could not walk and then the man was walking.

If you witnessed this today, what would be your thoughts, your reactions and/or your ponderings on the event?

Abba Father, Praise and Glory and Honor to Thee. Thank You that You are Sovereign and Omnipotent and Omnipresent. O LORD, as we come before Your throne of Grace in expectancy knowing that Your ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours. As we, just like the hurting and ailing and lame waited at the pool in Bethesda, wait may our waiting not be in vain. Yes Lord You know us so intimately and deeply and Your Love never changes. You see us and desire us to draw near to Thee. Lord, may we be still and know that You are a faithful and compassionate God. In our waiting may You still our hearts and minds to Trust in You alone. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

Waiting Upon Him,

LyndiaSue
