Matthew the Tax Collector - Matthew 9:9

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, I started reading the book of Matthew this past week. Yesterday I stopped at the end of chapter seven. This morning, getting ready to post, reaching for my open bible I see the heading, "Matthew Called", in chapter nine. Matthew had already written the genealogy and all the parables and miracles previously but then in chapter 9:9, "As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him." This got me to thinking - how many times in the lives of people throughout all the generations have read or heard about Jesus, who He was and what He did and were either complacent or outright in defiance to listening or understanding? And yet - Yes, there is an "and yet"! There has to be because Jesus "saw a man..." Jesus saw the man's heart for it goes on to say that there were "many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus". This was an amazing testimony stuck in the chapter 9 of Matthew. We live our lives and do our tasks and learn about different things in live and suddenly in the middle of our ordinary lives someone will interrupt our comings and goings with something so profound as "do you know who Jesus is?" I hope that we all will have a testimony to tell about, our encounter with the Son of God. Let us pray - Abba Father, Praise and Glory to You our God, our Lord. May it be so that when and if the question is asked that we will have an answer and our testimony would be so bold and glorious that You would be glorified by how You were the instigator of it ALL. In Jesus Name, Amen. Blessings,
LyndiaSue
