I Got A Verse For That

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, The last Wednesday of the month of November and also Thanksgiving Eve. Yes, Thanksgiving Eve, the day before, and being the day before the things that have been on the list but kept putting them farther and farther down are now at the top. The day old bread you were going to pick up is definitely at the top of the list and probably that extra table setting that needs to be washed up and of course the most important person on the list is now on the way to the hospital. This is just a scenerio but still little unexpected challenges seem to creep up on the eve of the actual day. The expectations that you had that it all under control is now becoming a scene from a B rated movie. So how do you choose to deal with the unexpected challenges or the unmet expectations? Remember when the whole apps thing came out and there were advertisements where someone would ask something and the response was, "there's an app for that", well thankfully the Lord had planned and purposed His Word so conveniently that whatever is going on in your life - there is a verse for that! The catch is - you need to have read the bible and this is the reason why - Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of sourl and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thougts and intentions of the heart." The truth is so much richer and deeper than the fleshly mind can grasp. Isaiah 55:8-9, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." Yes and Amen, the LORD allows and it just might be that unexpected challenges or the unmet expectations that seem to be more than you can bear at the time; He has a verse for that too, "1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." So if your first choice is to throw up your hands in defeat or think that you had done something wrong - just ask Jesus and the Helper that He gave us will guide and direct you. Let us pray - Abba Father, all praise and glory and honor to Your name. LORD, I ask that each dear and precious sister-in-Christ enjoy Your riches found in Christ Jesus and may her Thanksgiving Day be blessed with LOVE and JOY and PEACE no matter the circumstances or challenges in her life. In Jesus' Name, Amen. Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day,

The Written Word

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, Where to begin and what to say - In my search for finding the right photo to share with my younger sister-in-law I happened upon a box of old mementos of my late husband's grandfather and grandmother. Two precious souls who entered my life at different times because they had divorced and interaction with both of them was difficult because the grandfather had remarried twice and the grandmother had remained single. Grandfather had come to visit our young family about four years after we were married and stayed in contact regularly. We would visit grandmother irregularly but in 2000 we invited her to come live with us as we had moved to Hawaii. She was 96 years old when she accepted our invitation. Anyway back to my original thought - in the box were some letters addressed to both of them from various family members, as I read the letters I began to realize that these were things written to him and her from people who loved them and wanted to share the parts of their lives that they would be interested in. With each letter I read I felt that I was violating their privacy in some way. As I read each letter and all of the incidents and happenings in their lives that they were sharing, my heart swelled with excitement because I got to peek into their young lives and also how much they had loved them in their growing up years. That is why I titled this post - "The Written Word". Yes, we have the "written WORD" words put down on paper and God continually allows us to peek into Himself. The Holy Spirit inspired the men who wrote down the divine incidents and happenings and also the intimate thoughts of the LORD that in the reading of His letters we would be inspired and encouraged and enlightened and our hearts at times would be filled with excitement. Yes, from this day forward as I read the "written word" hopefully a feeling of intimacy, like I am peeking into the lives of those whom He loved. Let us pray - Abba Father, with praise and honor and glory we come to You to worship You. O, LORD thank You for "the written word", Your love letters to us to read over and over again. Dearest and most precious sisters-in-Christ, may He come alive again and again bringing You His Peace and His Joy and His Hope in the days ahead. May He draw You into a deeper intimacy with Him that you seek Him and in the seeking you would have a "quiet knowing" that He will be found and in the finding may your hearts and souls soar with excitement. In Jesus' Name, Amen. Peeking into His Heart,

The Significance of Genealogies

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, This past week was dedicated to finding a picture for my sister-in-law. She remembered that a picture of 4 generations of her family was done over 50 years ago. I told her that no problem and I would get right on it. In my mind the process would go like this - searching through multiple photo albums and boxes and numerous folders both in my husband's and mine. He had several work related photos he had taken and were stored separately from family photos. I started being very confident in my searching, then as I opened up each box or folder or album my mind became so overloaded with memories and places and events and friends and family that I knew this was going to take a long time. I found myself saying, "Oh my, I completely forgot about this!" And would instantly be ushered back to that time and place. I had done this before when my parents died and my brother and I had gone through several albums that my dad had made. It wasn't very painful then because I had my brother and we would help each other identify the people in the pictures or maybe the scenery in the photo. I have to admit that I have glossed over the genealogies of the bible. Each name is listed with care, yes, with care for each name listed was a person of significance. Each person lived a life and sometimes an event or something important would be listed but still their name was written down. They lived a life on earth and loved and contributed and made an impact on someone. Yes, God, in His infinite love and His Grace has given us a name and a place and a plan and a purpose and my greatest desire is to have my name written in the Lamb's Book of Life. I did find the pictures she wanted and also so many pictures that I want to keep in front of me for awhile and not be hidden away in an album or a box. Let us pray - Abba Father, God of Mercy and Grace, thank You for loving us and for giving us a name. Praise You for Your Son, Jesus, the name above all names. O LORD, I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that she would live out this day knowing that her name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life and that she is intimately and deeply known by You. Lord, only You are able to bring significance to our name. In Jesus' Name, Amen. Keeping the memories alive,

Welcome to the Month of November - Romans 8:11

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ, Welcome to the first Wednesday of the month - a month filled with fall colors and colder days and beautiful moons and leaves flying and swirling all around trying to find a place to be after being taken from their branches of safety. Yes, and also the month that Thanksgiving is celebrated in homes and hotels and hostels and shelters. So much color and action and what seems like chaos is in reality a time to come enjoy the changes in the seasons of our lives. Today's verse really stuck out in my mind today. It impacted me in a beautiful way - I have been walking with the Lord for such a long time that sometimes I feel stuck, that it is just a routine or a habit that I have gotten into and these words really caught my attention. Romans 8:11, reads, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." Wow, I have given life through the His Spirit who dwell in me! Some days I don't feel very alive by that I mean I seem to be going through all the routine things and those around me when looking at me would say that she is doing just fine. Now don't get me wrong, I am doing just fine BUT today in reading this verse I have a reason to be just fine because I have the same Spirit in me that raised Jesus from the dead! So how I not be filled up to the brim with praising Him and thanking Him and worshipping Him for without His death on the Cross where would we be today. His death on the Cross and giving us a helper the Holy Spirit who gives life to my mortal body. Let us pray - Abba Father, Jehovah God, our Creator. We worship and adore you and give all praise and glory and honor to You. LORD, I pray for every dear and precious sister-in-Christ that she would walk boldly on her path of Faith and enjoy each footstep and each breath for she is being guided and directed by Your Spirit. Her path of Faith is strewn with the goodness and faithfulness and lovingkindness and with each step she takes may You keep her foot steady and guide her even when she can't see the next step to take. In Jesus' Name, Amen. Enjoy your walk of Faith,
